A Psychotherapist for Mind, Heart, and Soul
Helping others heal, unveiling hidden potential, and broadening a sense of mind, heart, soul, mean everything to me. My understanding and appreciation of what innocence means has grown and matured into a fresh model of therapy that inspires clients to be at ease, while developing a strong level of self-confidence.
I grew up in Salem, Massachusetts, on the jagged yet tranquil North Shore of Boston. My first generation legacy has been shaped by the undeniable influence of my Celtic heritage.
Many aspects of my life were lived with love, kindness, strength, grace and loyalty. Other aspects brought fear, denial, servitude, loss and sadness.
I became an observer, seeing life through a whole new lens, with a sense that many times life was not what it appeared to be. I was drawn to go down a different path and started living it.
As my education continued, I learned more and more about endurance, tolerance and compassion. My ability to genuinely care for people is deeply seeded. My belief in innocence regardless of shortcomings or flaws (including my own) is heartfelt, and true.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Psychotherapist
Education, professional training and experience include an established thirty year private practice, unique mentor study program, theoretical, experiential, and clinical training and a ten year gold certificate in advanced training in psychotherapy. Eclectic approach: emotional intelligence, educational, psychoanalytic, humanistic, dynamic, cognitive, and client centered. All rooted in the belief of total innocence, self- love and compassion.
Meditator
Meditation has been proven to be very effective for well-being, stress reduction, and numerous benefits. The last twenty five years I have been an avid student of meditation, and have been teaching meditation for the last thirteen years. I have intensively studied, and practiced Jon Kabat Zinn’s mindfulness meditation, and became certified with master healers and teachers to create an energetic and innovative process of meditation, self-healing, and heart awareness.
Entrepreneur
Prior to my role as a psychotherapist, for over a decade, I worked at a successful hi-tech company in marketing that promoted an entrepreneurial and independent style of work. This had a profound impact on my vision of work life and was a crash course in understanding how to work hard yet effective, earn a good living all while enjoying the process of work.
Activist
The most profound aspect of my training came from the total belief in innocence, and my own inner work. This inner work was catapulted in the spring of 2002, when a major turn of events occurred in my life. I was drawn to reconnect with my brother, Bernie McDaid, as old tragic childhood wounds emerged and were endured especially by my brother, myself and my entire family. Pandora’s Box was opened during this very painful and public legal trial between my brother, fellow survivors and the Boston Archdiocese breaking down walls of silence that were heard around the world. Changed forever, my role as an activist for the protection of endangered innocence of the child began.

WHAT SETS ME APART
So why consider working with me instead of other practitioners? Because of the way I will work with you. Simply put, the process of how I work with my clients is in my genuine ability to treat you with compassion, warmth, candor, and cooperation. This process increases your ability to get more of a benefit out of your work in therapy.
Finding a Therapist that Aligns with Your Personality
No matter what you are struggling with the odds are significantly better and higher for success in your therapy program when you find a psychotherapist or counselor that aligns with your personality. “Who provides the therapy is a much more important determinant of success than what treatment approach is provided.”
Deeper, Lasting and Fulfilling Changes
It is rare for a private practice to be built primarily through word of mouth. But for three decades that is just what happened. Even before the Internet was available, referred clients were added to my waiting list, to get an appointment with me. I maintained this waiting list on and off throughout my private practice. Why? Because the changes my clients made were so deep, so lasting, and yet so fulfilling-yet so practical that they recommended me to their friends, family, colleagues and communities.
